Five Egg-cellent Easter Breaks in Your Motorhome
This Easter, why not hire one of our luxury motorhomes for an unforgettable Easter break with your family? Join in the fun of a Cadbury Easter Egg hunt at one of these National Trust properties with motorhome-friendly campsites nearby.
The Cadbury Easter egg trails at selected National Trust properties are always a fun family day out, especially since there are usually plenty of other family-friendly Easter-themed activities on offer too. We share some ideas about where to take your Freedhome Luxury Motorhome this Easter.
#1. Coughton Court, Warwickshire
This imposing Tudor house with its collection of Catholic treasures is a wonderful backdrop for an Easter egg hunt. The Cadbury-sponsored trails are running for four dates on the Easter weekend (on 19th, 20th, 21st and 22nd of April) between 11am and 4pm. An additional fee of £3 per hunt applies, but you’re guaranteed a chocolate egg at the end of it.
There are two historic churches just outside the grounds, so you might even be able to catch an Easter service if you time your visit right.
Stay close by at the small, family-run Dodwell Park campsite. In the heart of Shakespeare country, just two miles south-west of Stratford-upon-Avon, it’s also a great location from which to Shakespeare’s birthplace, Anne Hathaway’s cottage and Warwick Castle.

#2. Wray Castle, Lake District
One of the most beautiful Lake District campsites, the Low Wray campsite occupies a beautiful, scenic location by Lake Windermere. It’s also perfectly positioned for enjoying the Easter egg hunts at the National Trust’s Wray Castle.
This year, the egg hunt has an ornithological theme – children will be asked to hunt for nests for their chosen bird. Normal entry charges apply, plus £2.50 per trail.
The campsite reopens after the winter on March 29th, and the trails are running on the Easter weekend (Friday 19th to Monday 22nd April).

#3. Wimpole Estate, Cambridgeshire
This impressive countryside estate set in glorious parkland includes a mansion and a farm, so there is plenty to keep young children occupied this Easter. Visit the animals on the farm, take a tour of the mansion, wander the grounds and – of course – enjoy an egg hunt.
It’s a popular location, so this is one egg hunt you will need to book in advance.
Other National Trust locations nearby include Wicken Fen, which is also worth a visit – it is hosting pond dipping sessions over the Easter holidays.
#4. A la Ronde, Devon
This small sixteen-sided house might not be as grand as the Wimpole Estate, but it is just as fascinating in its own way. Enjoy the springtime flowers in the grounds overlooking the Exe estuary and, perhaps, a Devonshire cream tea in the café.
The egg hunts here are running over the whole of the Easter holidays – from 6th April right through to Easter Monday on the 22nd April – at a cost of £3.00 per child, with a Cadbury egg awarded at the end.
Stay close to the beach at the Beer Head campsite, just minutes away.

#5. Tyntesfield, near Bristol
This gothic revival mansion occupies an absolutely beautiful spot in acres of rolling green parkland and gardens. Take a walk around the park, explore the house and chapel and then join in the egg hunt.
Running throughout the Easter holidays (from 6th April until Easter Monday on the 22nd April), buy your ticket for £3.00 at the ticket office at Home Farm then head to the mansion to try to match the family portraits to complete the hunt and win your egg.
You’re just south of Bristol here, so why not combine your visit with a trip to Bristol Zoo Gardens or Brunel’s SS Great Britain? Or head over the border to explore Tintern Abbey and Tredegar House near Newport.
If you can brave the arrow approach roads, the Myrtle Farm campsite is a great choice.
